2 Types of Furnaces

Posted on

When you need to replace your furnace, there are things that you want to think about. One of the things that you need to think about is what kind of power you want to have your furnace run on. Just because you currently have one kind of furnace doesn't mean you have to get that same kind of furnace again. So, what are some of the options you have?

Electricity

One of the kinds of furnaces that you can choose is an electric furnace. One really nice thing about choosing to use this kind of heating system after you have had something else is that it is easy to switch over. You aren't going to have to have a lot of extra work done on your house in order to have the furnace installed. The installer will just make sure that it is hooked up to your electric system. Generally, that's done by hardwiring the furnace into your house and then possibly adding it into your circuit breaker panel. Electric heaters come in a lot of different styles, but they are often forced-air heaters of one kind or another.

Natural Gas

If you want to use natural gas to heat your house, you need to make sure that you are hooked up to the natural gas line. If nothing in your house has been used for natural gas before, you might not have a connection to the natural gas company. If you aren't sure if you do or not, you should contact the natural gas company. They should be able to tell you if you are. If you aren't, they can tell you if there is a line that runs nearby your house so that you can get connected to the service. You may have to pay a fee in order to run a pipe from a main line to your house, but then you can have the furnace company come in and install the heater that you want.

If you are going to replace your furnace, you can choose to get a furnace that is powered by something different. If you aren't sure about your options and what the benefits of each kind of furnace are, the furnace installation company that you are working with should be able to help you with your questions. They can also tell you what the best choice may be for you and your situation. For more information, reach out to heating companies near you.
